2010-2011 School Year Begins!

Event Date:
Wednesday, September 1, 2010 - 8:30am - 3:00pm

Excited anticipation filled the air at Solomon Schechter Academy on Wednesday, September 1st as students, parents and staff returned to school for the start of the 2010-2011 year. The children moved to their new classrooms, while teachers finalized their last minute preparations and parents lingered to catch up with old friends, all wondered what new studies and challenges would be explored this academic year.

New to SSA this fall is our fundraiser sale of “Snack Taxi” bags. These fun, reusable, washable bags are a new “green” way for transporting snacks and sandwiches. Each reusable bag keeps as many as 1000 plastic bags out of the waste stream. The sandwich size bag is on sale for $9.00 and the snack bag is $7.00. You can purchase your sandwich and snack bags through the Solomon Schechter Office.

Our theme for the year is “Creating Good Leaders”. Students will be encouraged to recognize their personal strengths and what makes each individual special and unique. They will be empowered to use their special talents to make a difference in the world, beginning in the classroom and the playground. Solomon Schechter Academy is a leader in Jewish elementary school education, focused on developing future leaders.

Our outstanding coeducational pre-kindergarten through sixth grade program of secular and Judaic studies prepares our students for a lifetime of learning. Although our roots remain grounded in the Jewish Community, we now welcome children of all religions and backgrounds. In conjunction with the Beth El nursery school, we are able to offer a full day program for pre-kindergarten. New students are still being accepted for this school year. A limited amount of scholarship funds are available. For more information, contact Sherry Morris at 860-443-5589 or send an email through this website.
