4th/5th Grade Visit Sturbridge Village

Event Date:
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 - 9:00am - 2:30pm

Sturbridge Village depicts life in New England as it was in the early 1800s.  It was raining Tuesday, October 7, when the 4th and 5th grade students of SSA boarded the bus to experience what it was like to live as a pioneer.    The sun shone when we arrived and we were able to watch the artisans produce their crafts.   We sat in the one room school house and wondered how they managed.  Farming men and women performed their endless chores.  The bank and lawyer's offices were small; all the transactions were done by hand in antiquated ledgers.  We witnessed the firing of a musket and learned a few things about this particular weapon.  The general store was our last stop and we bought some souvenirs.

Sturbridge Village gave the children a realistic look of the times long ago.  The pictures below will help bring alive our fascinating trip to the village.
