Parent Partnership

"When the day came to build the sukkah, my mom and brother showed up to help. We were working hard getting the sukkah up, missing my dad’s help, when all of a sudden we saw him. My dad, ‘the miracle worker,’ showed up unexpectedly. With his tools in his belt and his hammer in his hand, he was ready to work. Before we knew it, the sukkah was up! Building the sukkah and decorating it with artwork, took many people and many talents. With everyone’s help and participation, the sukkah was done and it was awesome." — Molly Ladd '05
"The PTO strives to help make our children's experience at SSA, the best it can possibly be. We do this through providing varied enrichment opportunities, as well as creating social events where the entire SSA community – students, parents, siblings, teachers, and staff – can come together to have fun and strengthen the bonds which make us more than just a school, they make us a family." – Melissa Shafner, PTO Co-chairperson

At SSA we recognize that a partnership with parents is essential to educating children. We therefore promote open communication with families to encourage continued learning, involvement with school activities and participation in school governance.

Parents generously volunteer their time, talents and energy to help develop and run special science programs, visit classrooms to share their expertise in a subject, and organize school community social events. Parents also coordinate Friday challah and school lunch programs, and chaperone field trips.
