Shabbat Dance Benefit

Event Date:
Friday, May 4, 2012 - 2:00pm - 3:00pm

On May 4th, 2012 SSA held a Shabbat Dance Benefit. The theme was "Kids Helping Kids". With Jonathan Dryden-Jaffe presenting, the children from Kindergarten through 6th Grade danced for a wonderful cause - to benefit New London families living at or below federal income guidelines of poverty. SSA students did a beautiful job and put on a wonderful show. The children were alternately fun, funny, graceful and - as always - amazing. It was incredible to watch them! The older students, namely Deniz Kayhan, Rachel Goldstein, Leah Berke and Jack Morse coached the younger children and choreographed wonderful dances for them. The little ones' joy was obvious and their enthusiasm quite contageous. Gavin Pressler taught Matt Teeter how to play the guitar and they performed together. Matt's shades were a nice touch in the mostly dark oolam. Noah Shafner dazzled everyone with his beautiful performance on the piano. At the end the students who belong to the Dance Club thanked their teacher and presented her with a small gift and the students themselves received something from Ada Filippetti. Deniz Kayhan sold gorgeous hand-made bows to aid the New London Public School families and everyone donated clothes, shoes and school supplies for those in need. It's always beautiful to watch these exceptional children come together for a noble cause.
