Solomon Schechter Academy is proud of our graduate, Irina Lisker, who was awarded the first Caryn Nesbitt, MD Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship fund was recently established to support a female medical school student who has a focus on primary care, an interest in women’s care and a desire to practice in southeastern Connecticut.
Irina Lisker, a bright, articulate second year medical student at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, plans on completing a Family Medicine residency. She is involved in the Urban Service Track at UConn and has volunteered for the Community Health Center. She hopes to practice in New London’s Community Health Center.
Irina is a native of the Ukraine who was raised in Waterford, Connecticut. Upon completing her primary education at Solomon Schechter Academy of Greater New London, she continued her education in Waterford. She graduated from Waterford High School in 2002 and Mount Holyoke College in 2006.
